Do you experience frequent email or internet browsing errors even if you
successfully connect to your internet service provider? These errors might
be a result of problems with their DNS servers.
When you signed up for internet service you were probably given an IP
address by your internet provider called a primary DNS IP address. In some
cases you may have also been given a secondary DNS IP address. In even other
cases, you may have been advised to use the checkbox to "Obtain DNS server
address automatically".
The problem here is that occasionally their DNS servers may go down even
though you can make a successful dial-up connection to your internet service
provider. But then when you try to browse the internet or download your
email, you may receive errors indicating that your browser cannot get to any
websites.
You can easily increase your email and internet browsing reliability by
using a FREE public DNS server as the 'secondary' in your TCP/IP properties.
Then you'll have a backup if your internet service provider's DNS server
crashes.
Try using any of these FREE public DNS server IP addresses as your secondary
DNS server and you'll increase your internet browsing reliability by
experiencing fewer browsing errors.
