Windows XP: How To Add or Remove Desktop Items



You just installed Windows XP or bought a brand new PC and your desktop is missing icons such as My Computer, My Network Places, Internet Explorer, and My Documents.

Here's how to add or remove those icons to or from your desktop.

2. Right-click on any empty area of your Windows XP desktop and choose "Properties". Select the "Desktop" tab followed by clicking the "Customize Desktop..." button to bring you to the following dialog window... 


3. Add or remove checkmarks into any of the items listed in the "Desktop Items" section and click the "OK" button.

There! Now you know how to manage the default icons on your Windows XP desktop.
