"Open Link in Browser" Does Not Work in Novell's Evolution Email Client
Novell's
Evolution email client is an awesome package and it has many
useful features. But shortly after installing it on my Linspire
Linux machine from the CNR Warehouse, I discovered that the "Open Link
in Browser" feature does not work. It is a minor but is annoying bug
when you want to click a link that Aunt Edna sent in an email. But not
to worry, there is a quick solution to squash this little bug.
Assumptions: You are running Linspire Linux 5.0 or higher. You have already installed Novell Evolution email client from the CNR warehouse.
1. Please CLICK HERE to
read our disclaimer before getting started. Be sure to read through
this entire article before you actually start and if you DO NOT feel comfortable performing these steps, then STOP and DO NOT PROCEED any further.
2. Open your CNR Warehouse and search for "gnome-control-center". It will look like the product located at this link...
3.
Click the green CNR button to install Gnome Control Center. When the
installation has finished, it will place a shortcut on your desktop
called "Gnome Control Center" which you will click to open and see the following window...
3. Choose the "Advanced" button in the left panel and then select the "Preferred Applications" icon in the right panel...
4. After you double-click the "Preferred Applications"
icon, you will be presented with the following window from which you
can select the browser you want to use when you click a URL link in
your email...
5. When you're finished, be sure to click the "Close" buttons as you back all the way out in order to register all your changes.
There! Now your URL click links will work in Novell's Evolution email client.
