I just stumbled across a great utility that lets you shred the contents of computer. It is included in none other than Spybot Search & Destroy. For example, shred a document before sending it to the Recycle Bin and all of its contents will be wiped out. All you will have left is an empty document with none of the bits left over on your hard drive. This also works with image format files. In SpyBot S&D, just click the menu "Mode -> Advanced Mode -> Tools -> Secure Shredder" and you're there.
