Welcome to
another issue of our weekly newsletter!
Something for everyone.
No
one can dispute that the human brain is the greatest computer of all
time! But sometimes it requires a little nudge to grow new
cells. I also happen to
believe that hardware computers are very useful tools
which can
help to provide that nudge. That's why this
newsletter is not just full of computer-related information, but also
includes entertainment and educational items to tickle the brain cells.
There's something of interest for everyone in here so feel free to
share this issue and pass it along to your
friends and family...
What's In Here?

Has Vista Slipped? "An
overzealous Microsoft employee may have inadvertently let the cat out
of the bag as to when the company plans to release Windows Vista, when
he posted to a Microsoft blog on Monday stating it will come out in
November." Click to read entire article... http://redmondmag.com/news/article.asp?editorialsid=7254
Powerful DoS Attacks Coming? "First
detected late last year, the new attacks – using a technique
known as distributed reflector denial of service -- direct such massive
amounts of spurious data against victim computers that even flagship
technology companies could not cope. In one of the early cases
examined, the unknown assailant apparently seized control of an
Internet name server in South Africa and deliberately corrupted its
contents." Click to read entire article... http://redmondmag.com/news/article.asp?editorialsid=7264
Hostage-Taking Virus "If
we needed any more convincing that malware has gone commercial, a new
virus making the rounds provides additional evidence. The Trojan horse
encrypts a user's documents and then directs the victim to pay US$300
into an e-gold account in return for the password that will unlock the
files. It's not clear yet how the virus is spreading, but once
installed on the user's PC, the program encrypts word processing
documents, databases, and spreadsheets before deleting itself from the
machine." Click to read entire article... http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060316-6397.html
